A few weeks back, I stayed at the country’s first 100% gluten free hotel, and let me start off by saying, this is not just a gluten free hotel. It is a hotel for everyone. And that shows when the locals all crowd around the bar on a Friday night and the groups of young trendy girls walk past me to the rooftop to drink the night away (within reason that is, not trying to cause over-serve allegations!).
I’ll start off by telling you that the space was designed by a highly-skilled architect: Christie Echols, who owns the boutique hotel with her husband Michael. They took what was an abandoned building, and revitalized it expanding adjacent of the property to create a space of both charm and elegance.

This project is actually just one of the many properties on the roadmap for the couple, who works tirelessly to serve their community and a vision to revitalize the historic, abandoned downtown properties. Now being from New York City, I forgot what Southern hospitality felt like - but the people here were truly special. The care that they put into every single detail goes a long way, and programming has brought life to the city. From live music on weekends and mahjong nights, to holiday celebrations and even a dog-friendly environment.
